Community Invited to Vote on

Design for El Paso Children’s Museum

EL PASO, Texas – Today, the El Paso Children’s Museum (EPCM) Foundation, in partnership with the City of El Paso Museums and Cultural Affairs Department, unveiled three designs for the El Paso Children’s Museum in which the community will select the final design concept through an online voting system. The design concepts will be on display in the lobby of the El Paso Museum of Art, as well as online. The public may begin voting online starting at noon, December 5, by clicking the El Paso Children’s Museum banner on the City of El Paso website at www.elpasotexas.gov. Voting ends December 15.

The community will vote on the design concepts presented by three renowned architecture firms; Koning Eizenberg Architecture based in Santa Monica, California, Snøhetta based in Oslo, Norway and New York City, and TEN Arquitectos based in Mexico City and New York City. The winning firm will then collaborate with a local architecture firm to complete the final official design.

In 2016, the El Paso Children’s Museum (EPCM) Foundation provided the City with a Letter of Intent to enter into public-private partnership in support of the project.

In August, Gyroscope Inc., an award-winning design firm based in Oakland, California, presented the Museum’s master plan, which provided the framework for the architectural designs.

The Museum will be located at 201 W. Main between the El Paso Museum of History and the El Paso Museum of Art within the Downtown Arts District. The facility is one of the signature projects voters approved in 2012 as part of a $473 million Quality of Life Bond.

The City of El Paso is now asking for your input on which design you prefer.
