Scenario

As part of your BTEC Level 3 - Extended Certificate you will need to learn about how people develop through the life stages and how different factors and events affect them for the unit 1 exam.


Your tasks – Factors affecting development of a celebrity

Task 1

  1. Produce a fact file about a celebrity (Pass)

Include:

  • Photo

  • Date of birth

  • Siblings

  • Parents

  • Significant relationships

  • Children

  • Career history


An explanation of 3 factors which have affected their physical, intellectual, emotional and social development:

  • genetic inheritance

  • lifestyle choices e.g. diet, exercise, smoking, alcohol, illegal drugs

  • personal relationships with friends and family

  • culture, e.g. community involvement, religion, gender roles and expectations,

  • educational experiences

  • the influence of role models

  • the influence of social isolation

  • income/wealth

  • material possessions


An explanation of 2 life events which have affected their physical, intellectual, emotional and social development:


  • starting school/nursery

  • moving house

  • marriage and divorce

  • starting a family

  • beginning employment

  • retirement

  • death of a relative/partner/friend

  • accidents or injury

  • changing employment

  • leaving home

  • promotion or redundancy

  • serious illness.

Task 2


  1. Evaluate the impact of 5 different factors and life events on the development of your celebrity.

    • Positives influences on development

    • Negatives influences on development

    • Conclusion which factor or life event has had the most impact on your celebrity? (you need to try to link factors)


Task 3

3. A PowerPoint which you will present to the whole group which outlines the following:

  • Introduction to your celebrity

  • Explanation of 3 factors which have affected your celebrity

  • Explanation of 2 life events which have affected your celebrity

  • Evaluation of the importance of different factors

Task 4

An evaluation of your performance in the presentation

Include the following:

  • What didn’t go well?

  • How would you improve next time?
