EASTER GREETINGS

There are several other ways to say Easter but this form is used most in the

(Gi-du-wa) dialect.

Written Version: Tsu-we-tsi Da-ni-su-wi-s-gv-i

Spoken Version: Tsu-we-ts Da-ni-su-wi-s-gv

Things to remember:

(Tsu-we-tsi) is the plural form for eggs

and

(da-ni-su-wi-s-gv-i) means, "They paint them"

or

when you put these together to express "The time they paint eggs".

CHRISTMAS GREETINGS

'U-li-he-li-s-di 'U-na-de-ti-yi-s-gv-i http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mwLh__ptm_o

This is how you say "Merry Christmas!" in the Giduwa dialect.

Literally, it means Happy Their Birthday Celebration- an elder told me it refers to the trinity- and the birth of Jesus.

From what I'm told,

this is how you say "Merry Christmas!" in the Western Dialect

ᏓᏂᏍᏔᏲᎯᎲ

Danistayohihv

Literally, it means when they shoot firecrackers and refers to winter celebrations.

I was told by one person that you could see one ['U-li-he-li-s-di 'U-na-de-ti-yi-s-gv-i] as "Merry Christmas!"

and the other [Danistayohihv] as "Happy Yuletime!"

However you say it,

remember this season and consider donating to the MP3 project.

This project allows a fluent speaker the time to review a verse to make sure that what is typed online is correct- that it matches what is in the printed Bible-

and also to record it so it can be heard.

What a wonderful gift you could give your friends and family!

To have a verse recorded in their honor would have

Much more eternal value than any other gift you might give!

To donate a verse for someone for Christmas-- contact us for details!

Here is a small gift to you-- "SILENT NIGHT" sung in Cherokee--

its recorded slowly to facilitate learning it too!
