Betsy Pack Cherokee Descendants

Each year, descendants and friends of Betsy Pack, a Cherokee woman, meet in alternate locations of old "Will's Town", Alabama and Jasper, TN to commemorate her life, her spirit, and her descendants.

Even numbered years are celebrated in Alabama.

Odd numbered years are celebrated in Jasper, Tennessee, between Chattanooga and Nashville.

Friends and relatives wear bold colors of RED as they gather together on the 3rd Saturday in the month of April each year.

At about 2:00 p.m.,

A wreath is placed; A passage of scripture in Cherokee is read followed by a prayer in the Cherokee language.

A song is sung (Usually amazing grace in the Cherokee language but also the 2 more famous trail of tears songs are also sung)

and the friendship dance is celebrated together.
