Are we against Girls?

The truth is that in India the instant a female child is born, the first thought that comes to the mind of her parents is about the huge amount of money they have to find someday for giving her away in marriage, though many years later. Even though India has been ascending in her world acceptance and economic importance, no political parties including the Communist Parties have ever taken a bold stand against Dowry System. In causing national shame, dowry system is second only to corruption by the highest authorities. In Kerala which is the State in the Union with the highest literacy rate, the highest crime is motorcyclists riding their bikes without wearing helmets, for which they are hunted down daily in thousands and thousands of places engaging in full duty thousands and thousands of officers: not one single case has been registered in Kerala against any groom for demanding dowry, unless specifically complained by the bride-groom’s relatives. To suffice, Ministers of State along with their fleet of I.A.S and I.P.S- level officers participate without any national sense in marriages where huge dowries are paid. What use is there in laws having passed banning dowries? When the Government of India declared free education to all girl students, the largest and the oldest Girls High School in the capital city of Trivandrum, just two furlongs opposite the Government Secretariate won’t allow any fee concession to girls, in spite of the school being named after The Holy Angel. No good in passing laws; all Government personnel who shy away from smelling out dowry cases and cases of denial of tuition fee waiver to girl students by Government-aided schools, should be dismissed first. Once terrorized, they will turn to reflect original Government policy.
