Black Claw Destroyer

The Standard Warship of the Totality, with over 8,000 in service and more being launched weekly. these vessels are of shoddy construction, badly designed, with minimal redundancies, and are practically useless compared to three galaxies standard vessels. they use Fusion drives, with more than half the volume of the vessel and more than 2/3rds the mass being the water used as the hydrogen fuel source. the drives are weak, and have maneuvering thrusters that barely deserve the name. their FTL drive is slow, a mere 10x the speed of light, as opposed to the 9000x velocities attainable by even the slowest Contra-Gravitic drive craft. their armor is practically worthless, their armament is potent considering their level of technology but inefficient and inaccurate by galactic standards. their sensors are limited to light speed methods only, with no gravitic based sensing methods at all, and relying entirely on radar, optical telescopes, and thermal imagers. they posses no FTL comms, are incapable of entering an atmosphere, and have living conditions so appalling that it belies description. no artificial gravity (the crew must use magnetic soled shoes or go about in free fall), minimal inertial dampening, and the life support barely operates. yet for all these faults, the Black Claw class is the most feared vessel around Chor'ii space.

Crew: 300. believed to be 50 officers, 50 'loyalty enforcers', and 200 general crewmen. it is believed that on long missions the number of general crewmen is doubled to extend the food supply.

[1] Depleting the MDC of the main body will destroy the living module, leaving the vessel uncontrolled.

[2] destruction of each fuel pod reduces the total fuel capacity by 4 months. destruction of all four fuel pods leaves the ship with no propulsion or power.

[3] destruction of the Drive pod will leave the ship with no propulsion or power.

[4] the central spine is the structure that all the other components are attached to. destroying the central spine will cause the vessels modules to separate from each other, destroying the ship but leaving the modules intact. the Central Spine is protected by the bulk of the vessels modules, and is thus -4 to strike.

[5] the Radiator panels are built into the central spine and are used to eliminate waste heat. the panels are fragile, and easy to damage. they can be retracted when in combat or hazardous area, but if kept retracted or if destroyed, the ship will begin to overheat to dangerous levels after only 4 hours, and after 12 hours the internal temperature will have reached levels sufficient to kill the crew.

Cargo: minimal. no extra cargo space provided beyond what is required for operation.

Power plant: Fusion drive with sufficient Dueterium fuel for 650,000 thrust points (roughly 224 days worth at one gravity of thrust). when not under thrust, the ship consumes 1 thrust point each week for power generation.

Sublight: mach 3 (per melee of acceleration), with a maximum velocity of 10,000 mach (1% of light)

FTL: 1 light year in 36.5 days.

Atmospheric: the vessel is not designed for atmospheric operations or reentry, and attempting to enter an atmosphere will result in the vessel burning up.

Underwater: impossible.

Market Cost: not currently available, and considered worthless by nearly all star faring natives of the Thundercloud galaxy as well as the trans-galactic powers. estimated value to a scrap metal dealer is 40,000 credits. a non-starfaring race might be willing to offer up to 2 billion credits worth of goods in exchange for a functional copy to reverse engineer.

Laser Emplacements:

these 5 ball mounted laser turrets provide coverage for the forward half of the vessel. one is mounted at the tip of the tip of the living module, the other four mounted at equidistant points around its circumference. these lasers are underpowered but finely tuned.

Secondary Purpose- Anti-ship

Damage- 1D6x10 MD.

Range- 600 kilometers

Rate of Fire- twice per melee.

Payload- all five cannon draw from the same capacitor bank, which holds enough power for 200 shots. the capacitor recharges at a rate of 4 shots per minute, but only when disconnected from the laser emplacements. disconnection/reconnection takes 1 minute to accomplish.

Notes: computer controlled for point defense. +2 to strike missiles and fighters.

Missile Pods:

these four launchers, mounted equidistant around the vessels circumference, posses 2 electromagnetic launchers each, launching fusion drive propelled missiles equipped with 200 kiloton thermonuclear warheads.

Primary Purpose- Anti-warship

Secondary Purpose- Strategic Bombardment

Damage- 4D6x100 MD. (in an atmosphere, the blast radius is 3 miles)

Range- 1000 km powered, 10,000 km ballistic (effective aimed range against moving targets when ballistic.)

Rate of Fire- Volleys of 1 or 2 per launcher, for a total volley of 8 missiles maximum. after the launch of it's 8 ready missiles, automatic systems reload each launcher, requiring one full melee (15 seconds) to reload 8 missiles.

Payload- each launcher has 16 missiles.

Notes: once the missile has exceeded its powered range, it continues on in a ballistic path. ballisticly aimed missiles are -6 to strike. each missile has an MDC of 2)

Sensors/Equipment:

Radar- maximum range of 30,000 km. -40% to detect small objects (fighters, missiles) beyond 10,000 km.

Infrared tracking and scanning- passive IR camera's used to detect enemy ships by their heat signature. has an effective range of 6 light minutes. -20% to detect small objects.

Radio- directional, maximum effective range of 6 light minutes.

Life Support- sufficient air and stored food for 1 year of operation.
