The circumstances surrounding the discovery of this statuette, which was found in the storeroom of the Auxerre museum in 1907, remain unknown. However, it is the finest example of the Daedalic style, which marked the renewal of stone sculpting in the Greek world in the seventh century BC. The U-shaped face, the heavy, stepped hair, and the strict frontality are hallmarks of this style, which takes its name from Daedalus, who is said to have created the first statues in antiquity.

Στο νέο Μουσείο της αρχαίας Ελεύθερνας στην Κρήτη προβάλλονται στις αίθουσες του ταινίες fiction και ντοκιμαντέρ ως αναπόσπαστο σώμα μια ενιαίας εκθεσιακής διήγησης που στοχεύει στην κατανόηση των άψυχων αλλά γεμάτων από κρυμμένα μυστικά αρχαίων αντικειμένων. Ιστορίες που ζωντανεύουν τον κόσμο του Ομήρου για ήρωες πολεμιστές και θαυμαστές αρχόντισσες, για μακρινά ταξίδια και ανθρώπινες οδύσσειες.. Αλλά και ιστορίες από τον κόσμο του Ηροδότου για τραγικά παιχνίδια της μοίρας μιας νεαρής πριγκιποπούλας από την κρητική Αξό και έναν Θηραίο έμπορο. Και μια ιστορία ξενιτεμού, μιας διάσημης Κυρίας, που από την Κρήτη βρέθηκε στο Λούβρο, στο Παρίσι, και έγινε θρυλική, της Dame D' Auxerre.
1. La Dame d' Auxerre
Στην αίθουσα Β παρουσιάζεται ως κινηματογραφική μεταφορά (fiction), η περιπέτεια του διάσημου αγάλματος της "Κυρίας της Ωσέρ" από τη στιγμή της εύρεσής του, το ταξίδι και την απόκτησή του από το Μουσείο του Λούβρου, η ταυτοποίηση της προέλευσής του από τις έρευνες του Καθηγητή Ν. Χρ. Σταμπολίδη και, τέλος, η συνάντησή της με την "Κόρη της Ελεύθερνας" για πρώτη φορά μετά την απομάκρυνση της πρώτης από την Κρήτη, πιθανότατα στα τέλη του 19ου αιώνα, στο Μουσείο Κυκλαδικής Τέχνης το 2004/5.
