OPENING HYMN: "Onward Christian Soldiers"
1 Onward, Christian soldiers, Marching as to war, With the cross of Jesus
Going on before. Christ, the royal Master, Leads against the Foe;
Forward into battle See His banners go! Onward, Christian soldiers,
Marching as to war, With the cross of Jesus Going on before.
2 Like a mighty army Moves the Church of God; Brothers, we are treading
Where the saints have trod. We are not divided, All one body we,
One in hope and doctrine, One in charity. Onward, Christian soldiers,
Marching as to war, With the cross of Jesus Going on before.
3 Crowns and thrones may perish, Kingdoms rise and wane,
But the Church of Jesus
Constant will remain. Gates of hell can never 'Gainst that church prevail;
We have Christ's own promise, And that cannot fail.
Onward, Christian soldiers,
Marching as to war, With the cross of Jesus Going on before.
4 Onward, then, ye faithful, Join our happy throng,
Blend with ours your voices
In the triumph song: Glory, laud, and honor Unto Christ, the King;
This thro' countless ages Men and angels sing. Onward, Christian soldiers,
Marching as to war, With the cross of Jesus Going on before.

THE SCRIPURE READINGS:
The Old Testament Reading: Exodus 6:2-8
2 God also said to Moses, “I am the Lord. 3 I appeared to Abraham, to Isaac and to Jacob as God Almighty, but by my name the Lord I did not make myself fully known to them. 4 I also established my covenant with them to give them the land of Canaan, where they resided as foreigners. 5 Moreover, I have heard the groaning of the Israelites, whom the Egyptians are enslaving, and I have remembered my covenant. 6 “Therefore, say to the Israelites: ‘I am the Lord, and I will bring you out from under the yoke of the Egyptians. I will free you from being slaves to them, and I will redeem you with an outstretched arm and with mighty acts of judgment. 7 I will take you as my own people, and I will be your God. Then you will know that I am the Lord your God, who brought you out from under the yoke of the Egyptians. 8 And I will bring you to the land I swore with uplifted hand to give to Abraham, to Isaac and to Jacob. I will give it to you as a possession. I am the Lord.’”
Epistle Lesson Romans 11:33-36
Oh, the depth of the riches of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable his judgments, and his paths beyond tracing out. 34 “Who has known the mind of the Lord? Or who has been his counselor?” 35 “Who has ever given to God, that God should repay them?” 36 For from him and through him and for him are all things. To him be the glory forever! Amen.
The Gospel Reading Matthew 16:13-20
13 When Jesus came to the region of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, “Who do people say the Son of Man is?” 14 They replied, “Some say John the Baptist; others say Elijah; and still others, Jeremiah or one of the prophets.” 15 “But what about you?” he asked. “Who do you say I am?” 16 Simon Peter answered, “You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God.” 17 Jesus replied, “Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah, for this was not revealed to you by flesh and blood, but by my Father in heaven. 18 And I tell you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hades will not overcome it. 19 I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven; whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.” 20 Then he ordered his disciples not to tell anyone that he was the Messiah.
THE CREED
C: I believe in God the Father Almighty; Maker of heaven and earth
And in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord; Who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, Born of the Virgin Mary: Suffered under Pontius Pilate, Was crucified, dead and buried; He descended into hell; The third day He rose again from the dead; He ascended into heaven And sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; From thence He shall come to judge the quick and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Ghost; The holy Christian Church, the communion of saints; The forgiveness of sins; The resurrection of the body; And the life everlasting. Amen.
SERMON HYMN: "Glory Be To God the Father"
1 Glory be to God the Father, Glory be to God the Son,
Glory be to God the Spirit: Great Jehovah, Three in One!
Glory, glory, While eternal ages run!
2 Glory be to Him who loved us, Washed us from each spot and stain;
Glory be to Him who bo't us, Made us kings with Him to reign!
Glory, glory, To the Lamb that once was slain!
3 Glory to the King of angels, Glory to the Church's King,
Glory to the King of nations; Heav'n and earth, your praises bring!
Glory, glory, To the King of Glory sing!
4 Glory, blessing, praise eternal! Thus the choir of angels sings;
Honor, riches, pow'r, dominion! Thus its praise creation brings.
Glory, glory, Glory to the King of kings!
SERMON: "Doxology" Romans 11:33-36

The hand that wounds knows how to bind And heal the broken heart.
