OPENING HYMN: “Dearest Jesus We Are Here"
1 Dearest Jesus, we are here, Gladly Thy command obeying;
With this child we now draw near In accord with Thine own saying
That of Thee it shall be given As a child and heir of heaven.
2 Yea, Thy word is clear and plain, And we would obey it duly:
"He who is not born again, Heart and life renewing truly,
Born of water and the Spirit, Can My kingdom not inherit."
3 Therefore hasten we to Thee, In our arms this infant bearing;
Let us here Thy glory see, Let this child, Thy mercy sharing,
In Thine arms be shielded ever, Thine on earth and Thine forever.
4 Gracious Head, Thy member own; Shepherd, take Thy lamb and feed it;
Prince of Peace, make here Thy throne; Way of Life, to heaven lead it.
Precious Vine, let nothing sever From Thy side this branch forever.
BAPTISM: Kooper Keith Dowell
5 Now into Thy heart we pour Prayers that from our hearts proceeded.
Our petitions heavenward soar; May our warm desires be heeded!
Write the name we now have given, Write it in the book of heaven.
INVOCATION:
P: Welcome in the name of our gracious God
C: We have come to worship and adore Him. He has called us to Himself. “While we were still sinners, Christ died for us” and washed us in love on the day of our baptism.
P: Then, let us call upon Him as He has revealed Himself to us!
C: We praise you God: Father Son and Holy Spirit. Receive us into your presence and bless us with peace and purpose. Amen.
CONFESSION OF SINS and ABSOLUTION:
P: It is the earnest desire of almighty God to have all of His children come to Him.
C: But we are sinners. We need forgiveness and renewal.
P: Come then as penitent children. Confess your sins to God who has promised forgiveness when He said of Himself through His servant the Apostle Paul: “If we confess our sins, God who is faithful and just, will forgive our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”
C: O merciful Father, you have brought us to an awareness of our sins by your Law, and have called us to repentance and forgiveness by the Gospel. For this we are most thankful. But, in our weakness, we have not shown our gratitude in daily living. Instead, we have sinned against you by the words and works we have done and by the work and witness we have left undone. Forgive us for Jesus sake and send us your Spirit to rekindle our love and commitment. This we ask for Jesus’ sake.
P: It is my joy and privilege as a called and ordained servant of the Word, to announce to you in the place of our Lord Jesus Christ, the forgiveness of all your sins in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Furthermore, I invite you to receive the Spirit and power of God to sanctify your life and invigorate your service in his kingdom.
C: Amen.
INTROIT:
P: Declare his glory among the nations,
C: his marvelous deeds among all people.
P: Great is the Lord and most worthy of praise,
C: he is to be feared above all gods.
P: Say among the nations, “The Lord reigns.” The world is firmly established, it cannot be moved,
C: he will judge the peoples with equity.
P: Worship the Lord in the splendor of his holiness;
C: tremble before him, all the earth.
ALL: Glory, be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning is now, and will be forever. Amen.
P: Declare his glory among the nations,
C: his marvelous deeds among all people.
PRAYER OF THE DAY:
P: The Lord, be with you.
C: And also with you.
P: Let us pray:
ALL: Almighty God, since you have called your Church to witness that in Christ you reconciled us to yourself, grant that by your Holy Spirit we may proclaim the good news of your salvation that all who hear it may receive the gift of salvation; through Jesus Christ, our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever.
OLD TESTAMENT LESSON: Isaiah 62:1-7
P: For Zion’s sake I will not keep silent
C: for Jerusalem’s sake I will not remain quiet.
P: till her righteousness shines out like the dawn,
C: and her salvation, like a blazing torch.
P: The nations will see your righteousness, and all kings your glory;
C: you will be called by a new name that the mouth of the Lord will bestow.
P: You will be a crown of splendor in the Lord’s hand,
C: a royal diadem in the hand of your God.
P: No longer will people call you Deserted
C: or name your land Desolate.
P: But you will be called Hephzibah,
C: and your land Beulah;
P: for the Lord will take delight in you,
C: and your land will be married.
P: As a young man marries a maiden, so will your sons marry you;
C: as a bridegroom rejoices over his bride, so will God rejoice over you.
P: I have posted watchmen on your walls, O Jerusalem;
C: they will never be silent day or night.
P: You, who call on the Lord, give yourselves no rest,
C: and give him no rest till he establishes Jerusalem and makes her the praise of the earth.
EPISTLE: Romans10:11-17
11 As Scripture says, “Anyone who believes in him will never be put to shame.” 12 For there is no difference between Jew and Gentile—the same Lord is Lord of all and richly blesses all who call on him, 13 for, “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.” 14 How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them? 15 And how can anyone preach unless they are sent? As it is written: “How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!” 16 But not all the Israelites accepted the good news. For Isaiah says, “Lord, who has believed our message?” 17 Consequently, faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word about Christ.
ALL: Give thanks to the Lord, call on his name. Alleluia! Alleluia!
Make known among the nations what he has done. Alleluia! Alleluia!
GOSPEL: Luke 24:44-53
44 He said to them, “This is what I told you while I was still with you: Everything must be fulfilled that is written about me in the Law of Moses, the Prophets and the Psalms.” 45 Then he opened their minds so they could understand the Scriptures. 46 He told them, “This is what is written: The Messiah will suffer and rise from the dead on the third day, 47 and repentance for the forgiveness of sins will be preached in his name to all nations, beginning at Jerusalem. 48 You are witnesses of these things. 49 I am going to send you what my Father has promised; but stay in the city until you have been clothed with power from on high.” 50 When he had led them out to the vicinity of Bethany, he lifted up his hands and blessed them. 51 While he was blessing them, he left them and was taken up into heaven. 52 Then they worshiped him and returned to Jerusalem with great joy. 53 And they stayed continually at the temple, praising God.
APOSTLES' CREED:
C: I believe in God the Father Almighty; Maker of heaven and earth
And in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord; Who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, Born of the Virgin Mary: Suffered under Pontius Pilate, Was crucified, dead and buried; He descended into hell; The third day He rose again from the dead; He ascended into heaven And sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; From thence He shall come to judge the quick and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Ghost; The holy Christian Church, the communion of saints; The forgiveness of sins; The resurrection of the body; And the life everlasting. Amen.
SERMON HYMN: “Hark the Voice of Jesus Crying”
1 Hark! the voice of Jesus crying, "Who will go and work today?
Fields are white and harvests waiting, Who will bear the sheaves away?"
Loud and long the Master calleth, Rich reward He offers thee;
Who will answer, gladly saying, "Here am I; send me, send me"?
2 If you cannot speak like angels, If you cannot preach like Paul,
You can tell the love of Jesus, You can say He died for all.
If you cannot rouse the wicked With the Judgment's dread alarms,
You can lead the little children To the Savior's waiting arms.
3 If you cannot be a watchman, Standing high on Zion's wall,
Pointing out the path to heaven, Off'ring life and peace to all,
With your prayers and with your bounties You can do what God demands;
You can be like faithful Aaron, Holding up the prophet's hands.
4 Let none hear you idly saying, "There is nothing I can do,"
While the souls of men are dying, And the Master calls for you.
Take the task He gives you gladly; Let His work your pleasure be;
Answer quickly when He calleth, "Here am I, send me, send me!"

CLOSING HYMN: “Spread Oh, Spread Thou Mighty Word”
1 Spread, oh, spread, thou mighty Word, Spread the kingdom of the Lord,
Wheresoe'er His breath has giv'n Life to beings meant for heav'n.
2 Tell them how the Father's will Made the world and keeps it still,
How His only Son He gave, Man from sin and death to save.
3 Tell of our Redeemer's love, Who forever doth remove
By His holy sacrifice All the guilt that on us lies.
4 Tell them of the Spirit giv'n Now to guide us up to heav'n,
Strong and holy, just and true, Working both to will and do.
5 Up! The rip'ning fields ye see, Mighty shall the harvest be;
But the reapers still are few,Great the work they have to do.
6 Lord of Harvest, let there be Joy and strength to work for Thee
Till the nations far and near See Thy light, and learn Thy fear.
