It Really is About 'Literary' Fiction: New Evidence and Underlying Mechanisms for the Literary Fiction Effect on Theory of Mind
【要旨】
In 2013 I co-authored with David Kidd an article with five experiments showing that reading literary fiction, but not popular fiction, improves performance of Theory of Mind tasks.
The original claim we put forward in that article is now boosted by at least one replication by independent researchers as well as by two in press articles by my team, which show
additional experimental and correlational evidence. In this presentation I will review this evidence, discuss our theoretical advances, and discuss preliminary evidence concerning the mechanisms through which literary fiction may be causing the observed effects.
