Carolyn's Angel Biscuits
Ingredients
- 5 c Flour
- 3 tsp Baking Powder
- 1 tsp Baking Soda
- 1 1/2 tsp Salt
- 3 Tb Sugar
- 1 c Crisco
- 2 c Buttermilk
- 2 pkg Yeast
- 1/2 c Warm Water (for Yeast)
Directions
- Set oven to 400 degrees
- Mix Warm Water and Yeast, add 1 Tb Sugar
- Combine Flour, Baking Powder, Baking Soda, Salt, remaining Sugar
- Add Crisco to the dry ingredients and cut the fat into the dry ingredients with a pastry blender, a fork, or two knives.
- Add Buttermilk and Yeast-Water, kneading into a dough
- Let rise for 1 hr
- Gently roll out dough to 1-1 1/2 in thickness
- Cut with 2 in biscuit cutter
- Bake at 400 for 15-20 minutes, or until golden brown
