This species, previously treated as Heuchera parviflora var. puberula, is quite distinct from H. parviflora, and would appear to be more closely related to H. villosa. It is distinctive in preferring calcareous substrates, and always having very short petiole hairs. It also has thicker foliage than any other members of subsection Villosae. In cultivation, the flowers are consistently larger than those of H. parviflora or H. missouriensis, but this trait is not constant in wild material.
These images are all from northern Arkansas.
