CFI - Chief Flying Instructor

Chris Gilbert explains: The RAF Clubs in the UK tended to have the Station Commander as Chairman.

This was not necessarily the case in Germany and for a long time OC Operations Wing (the deputy Station Commander) was the TRGC Chairman.

There was an Officer In Charge (OIC) heading up the committee and administrative matters, and then the key post of a Chief Flying Instructor

who could often get a posting to Laarbruch on the basis of being qualified to do the CFI job.

In recording the Club's history, the CFI is the main name to look for.
