There are no Engineering licenses for an up to date COMSOL.

Ken can provide you with a COMSOL version 4 (which is probably 10+ years old) if you want.

Useful for basic 2D simulation of waveguides to show the guided modes.

Imaginary part of the refractive index of the guided part -> the absorption coefficient -> absorption versus length into a nanowire detector.

The maths of this translation is simple in the end, but worth asking mike for the method to get started.

Mike has many simulations. The easiest way to get started us to open an existing simulation as it gets all the settings and operation mode correct (something like hybrid mode wave solutions....).
