Our lab 222b is set up to allow group members to perform precision scientific experiments efficiently and safely.
Our group is growing in size and we have new members of differing levels of experience. We need to work together to ensure good working practices are maintained.
Good working practices include
Logging use of instruments (log books for each refrigerator and wire bonder are in the lab - put your initials and date each time you use the instrument)
Ensuring that tools are put away, manuals etc are shelved appropriately as soon as you have finished with them
Keeping accurate lab notes and backing up data
Taking responsibility for repair and maintenance of equipment.
Taking responsibility for (re)ordering consumables
Communicating effectively with other group members
Keeping track of equipment loaned to- or borrowed from other research groups
Dedicate some time each week (1 hour) to tidying and organising your area of the lab
Not bringing food or drink into the lab
Wash your hands after working in the lab
Wear face masks in lab and minimize side-by-side working
Use BookIt system and adhere to lab occupancy as per current C-19 code of practice & risk assessment
Adhere to late working/weekend working procedure
Please immediately report to me and senior group members (via email or phone)
Any faults with cryostats
Any broken or faulty equipment
Any roof leaks
Any damage to lab infrastructure
