Subject: Requesting Technical Support in the School
On 31/07/14 11:26, Douglas Irons wrote:
Dear all,
A new web based system for requesting technical support in the school
is now in place. This will ensure that all relevant information about
the job and the requester is recorded and in due course the system
will provide a more accurate account of how technical resources are
being utilised across the school.
Requesters will *_NOT_* be charged for technician time but more
information is being captured so that time can be attributed to an
appropriate research, teaching or another user category.
It is planned that technicians will input data about jobs/projects
they are working on themselves but this is still under discussion.
Meanwhile, the "front end" or job requesting function is ready to go
and using this will help managers to organise/prioritise work
commitments within their divisions.
Please try to familiarise yourself with the system over the next few
weeks bearing in mind it is live, so don't submit phoney job requests.
From August 1st this will become the default method for requesting
technical support in the Mechanical and Electronics Divisions and also
to request Laboratory Services Support in areas that don't have
resident technicians.
This is still under development so please provide feedback, good or
bad, and we will respond accordingly.
You can access the system using this link:
http://web.eng.gla.ac.uk/techservices/
This link will be available permanently on the school web page in due
course and a further email will follow explaining where to find it
once set up.
*/[N.B. This system should NOT be used to request work in the JWNC,
they have well developed systems of their own and you should continue
to use these. IT support also have a dedicated system and this too
should continue to be used as normal.] /*
