Vienna with Penny

Randomly Penny called me and told me she was going to Vienna in January I fired up my favorite flight finding app, and 10 minutes later I was joining her.

But we were both incredibly busy at work so we did… absolutely no research before going. Hence this post is going to be heavy on the thing I liked most (the Natural History Museum) and not many pictures of what we mostly did (drink a fair amount).

So, requisite photo at the natural history museum, which in addition to having excellent collections is housed in a gorgeous building.

Now, let’s talk about the collections. I love a good Natural History Museum. I love the gem collection, the snails, some trilobites perhaps. I especially enjoy a good dinosaur collection (to be clear, I have always been that kid…). Vienna has all that. It was a delight.

And to cap it off this little guy was out front!

It should also be noted that we choose to go to Vienna in January. So… we got what we deserved. But this delightful greenhouse thing was downright tropical! And it had wine.

This cracked me up. Super nice, old looking building with epic ladies guarding the door… to a Western Union.

We had two delicious breakfasts, I only managed to get photos of one of them. This one was located in a really nice park.

And Penny swears this hilarious dungeon restaurant has the best schnitzel in Austria. The kaesespaetzle however… left a lot to be desired.

Mostly we walked around and drank and caught up. I don’t know if I’ll be rushing back to Vienna, but it was a delightful place to find Penny for the weekend.
