Italy is my favorite country in Europe.
Good wine. Good food. Good men.
But up to this point I hadn’t traveled extensively in Northern Italy. So when Natalie suggested that instead of meeting her in Paris, I join her and her mother in Milan and then Lake Como I happily accepted.
The food was amazing. I like that northern Italian food seems more developed. The techniques are more complex and the flavors richer than southern Italian food. In particular, to this day I distinctly remember some ravioli that I had on top of a Mountain in Bellagio, a small town on Lake Como. We rode the funicular to the top, and there was a quaint little house that doubled as a restaurant. The pasta melted into my mouth, simple ingredients complexly arranged into what could only properly be described as heaven.
Somehow, I have no pictures of that portion of my trip. Save this one:
