It's the end of the world as we know it

On Friday, Donald Trump was inaugurated as the 45th president of the United States.

I had so much hope for this election. I keep thinking about how it was supposed to be Hillary Clinton, it was supposed to be someone better.

So I went to the Women's March in Berlin, and stood up with women around the world to loudly proclaim that this is not ok. This is not normal.

While in general I think mocking someone like this is like fat shaming, and is generally unproductive, this one made me giggle a little.

We were marching in front of the American Embassy (for obvious reasons) the embassy is in front of the Brandenburg Gate. It's a symbol of unity across Germany, and the symbolism was not lost on me.

There was only a crowd of about 1000. We didn't march anywhere, but it was wonderful seeing so many people come out and stand up together.

The impressive thing for me was the number of young women in attendance. This one was on the young side of the scale, but lots of young ladies standing up and protesting against someone who is unabashedly against women brings me hope for the future.

Science works! There were a lot of pro science signs.

For the cat people in my life. Not just pro pussy, but pro pussy cat!

Pointed. And accurate.

"This is what a feminist looks like"

It should be her. The sad part is I don't think I'll see a female president in my lifetime. But the number of young women protesting... maybe one of them.

Young women standing up!

This one was my favorite. In front of the Brandenburg gate, where JFK gave a speech (when the wall was still standing) proclaiming "Ich bien eine BERLINER!". He meant solidarity with the people of Berlin, and they got that. But people from Berlin don't call themselves "Berliners" because that is the name of a jelly filled donut. So JFK got up and proclaimed "I am a jelly filled donut!". The good news is that the people of Berlin reject Trump. He is not a Berliner.

Subtle. I really like the "Balls are week, grow a pussy!"

This is my first protest. it is unlikely to be my last.
