For another iteration of ESEB (see the trip to Torino for the last one) I went to Tubingen Germany. It’s a small town and by the time I went to book a place to stay they were all long gone. Luckily a friend of a friend hooked me up with a room in a student flat. That was close to downtown and had an epic view of the city. This is the view from the porch.
My friend Jim was getting ready to start his MS in Berlin, so he joined me. Both on the trip and on the porch.
We traveled exclusively by train, and some of the best memories of the trip were not caught on camera.
But after our time in Germany we met up with Nick and Victoire in Paris. Victoire is 100% french, and her family owns a flat near Touleries. I hated Paris for almost a decade, but Victoire assured me that if I came with her I would fall in love. She was right.
Incidentally, although Nick and Victoire were together, Nick fell helplessly in love with Jim. I have never seen two men more interested in each other more quickly than these two.
We had a romantic proper peasants picnic in the park by the Eiffel Tower.
We ate proper french breakfast (note Victoire did not want to be photographed in this picture).
But mostly we just walked around, ate great french food and drank wine. Like the scene below.
