The Elan System
Gnosis – Event
Notes about Modes: for calculation purposes, all maximum HP/EP/MP/Spell Slots/Spell Charges (refer to these as “System Totals” for the rest of this document) (dependent on System, please defer to DM fiat) are replenished to the maximum. Totals are increased as per the Mode activated.
Notes about calculations: when it comes to Damage Dealt and Damage Blocked, please note that the Mode activated does -not- affect the armor or weapons used themselves unless noted otherwise. Some artifact-level items (weapons, armor, other forms of gear) may come with the appropriate tags that allow them to be activated by Mode (“Mode Activated”); however, the user must ensure they have properly enchanted/smithed/personalized/otherwise altered the gear beforehand. This must be confirmed by the DM before Mode Activated can be applied and written in. Any items or gear that acquires Mode Activated immediately become upgraded to “Artifact” status.
Notes about Mode Activation: Once Activated, the bonuses a Mode confers upon the user are multiplicative (example: so, if your DEX was 22 with no Mode Activated gear/ability bonuses and you activate God Mode, your DEX is now 220, with a modifier of +105). It is suggested that a user has a second player sheet they can swap to once a Mode has been Activated, alongside the Battle Page and upgraded calculations overall. The multiplicative calculation also occurs with abilities, skills, techniques, and any Artifact-level gear (weapons, armor, items, or personalized gear) that bears the Mode Activated function, and this should be considered BEFORE Mode Activation multiplication occurs. As always, defer to DM fiat for what can or cannot bear the Mode Activated function.
REMINDER: depending on splatbook/source material, ability modifiers are calculated as “ability score – 10, then divided by 2 (rounded down).
1 – At this point, you are no longer an Ephemeral. You may now begin to rise up the ranks of the Elan System and affect reality around you directly. There is the trap of “settling” if you ever actively choose to become the apex of the level you’re at. Only those who ignore these levels can actively gain more gnosis and ascend Elan, unless otherwise noted.
25 – You are now a Hero. Most heroes come from this particular level. They can significantly influence reality to a greater extent than the average person, and this is evident in the outcomes of their actions.
50 – You are now a famous figure. At this point, you are a demigod, a leader, or a person who can affect the lives of others simply through your actions and choices. At this point in time you may have created something or even started a noteworthy cult or two.
75 – You are now a ruler. King, queen, emperor, president, whatever – if you have the power, money, and fame to affect nations and, perhaps, the entire world, then you are here. You more than likely have an artifact, a nation under your rule, or the public love of a god or goddess.
100 - You can now become a god. You can govern and gather worshipers and grow strong, in the sense of gods at least. Gods normally have stats of 50 across the board at least.
God Mode: x10 to System Totals, all total personal damage dealt/blocked
300 - You can now become a high god. You rule over gods and can create whole worlds if you wish. High Gods normally have stats of 100 across the board at least.
High Mode: x20 to System Totals, all total personal damage dealt/blocked
500 - You are a Beyonder. You can evaporate anyone from 400 gnosis or lower from existence, can manipulate other created planets as if they were clay, and only high gods can truly harm you. Beyonders normally have stats of 200.
Beyonder Mode: x30 to System Totals, all total personal damage dealt/blocked
700 - You are a Rising Force. You can completely write anyone out of the fabric of reality that has a gnosis less than 400 (even high gods), and whole universes are at your disposal. Overpowered elements are now usable at this level. A Rising Force is considered to have stats of 400.
Force Mode: x40 to System Totals, all total personal damage dealt/blocked
900 - You are Empowered. Anyone with 700 gnosis or less can be destroyed at a moment's notice. Reality itself and all that exists at a gnosis less than yours can be manipulated to your whim, and only a Rising Force or another Empowered can harm you. Empowered's have stats of 500.
Empowered Mode: x50 to System Totals, all total personal damage dealt/blocked
1000 - You are Overpowered. You are peerless, unmatched, and flawless. Your very thoughts can affect reality on a macrocosmic scale. Overpowereds ARE stats. Note: literally, 1000 in each stat.
Overpowered Mode: x100 to System Totals, all total personal damage dealt/blocked
1000. – You are an Overpowered Primeval. You are beyond the current Existence, and age determines everything in terms of strength. First Existence Primevals can easily zero-sum all of the current existence if they ever manage to reach it. However, there are, for the first time ever, Primevals from the current form of Existence who have proven themselves strong enough to counter them, creating the same kind of stalemate all at the Overpowered level are used to. The numbers after the decimal determine the overall strength of the Primeval, which can never go over 1000.9999*(on into infinity). There is no need to calculate stats at this point – they are beyond stats, entirely dependent on whatever absurd number the DM wishes to throw out. Unless otherwise noted, a player can never start with an Overpowered Primeval character (however, they may be able to obtain Primeval status at the DM’s fiat/story purposes).
Primeval Mode: x1000 to System Totals, all total personal damage dealt/blocked
1001 – [REDACTED]. You immediately zero-sum out of all existence with no chance of returning, recycling, or otherwise regaining existence. A state of non-existence that, even Void or Theomnis, cannot change. There is no way to stop or otherwise circumvent this zero-sum action.
