Trying is One Step Closer Towards Failure
Humanity defeats themselves before they even allow themselves to try
Why try when it's so easy to die.
Why get up in the morning? Wouldn't it be easier to just lay there and eventually succumb to death itself? Nobody really has that thought, cept the suicidal minority that is. Yet when a new topic or interest approaches them, humanity seems determined to underscore it's value to them instantly and discount the effort needed to learn/master a new trait. Somewhere along the line in childhood into early adulthood the majority of the modern population decided that they've learned and experienced enough contrasts of life in their relatively small time period of 20-25 years to warrant sloth and laziness and contempt for the remaining portion of their life. Why? Why remove the challenges in life to simply coast the rest of your life with the experience and knowledge one's amassed in such a short period in their life....
Fear of their ability to handle the unknown
Discussing this with multiple friends and acquaintances, co-workers my observations tell me one thing about modern society. People set themselves up to cushion themselves within their mind on a fluffy cloud of "can't do no wrong". The routine that they know and seemly have mastered is what they value as a perception of how they are handling life. Somewhere along the line if they have tried to break out and learn something new, humanity seems to realize how much discipline it takes to learn a new trait. Something they've lost perspective from their childhood. How long did it take you to learn how to read, write, speak, walk, master driving, develop your own mindset? We're talking years and decades to develop the most basic of all traits we as adults take for granted now. So here we sit bored within the routine of watching TV every night going to bed, waking up with the fallacy of expectations that somewhere along our later life we'll eventually break out of this and make something of our life. Otherwise we end up as the aging lotto players that slow down the line at the store, lost within hope of their hopeless situation.. Lotto and the hope of winning is all they have to remain sane in their later years while they wallow in debt and doubt which does nothing but destroy the mind.
It's a dangerous road allowing your mindset to solidify for decades while you sit in your routine allowing life and others to entertain you. There is proof deep within the neurological society that the relativity plasticity white matter deep within the brain which adapts and evolves when challenged, is only maintained by a constant stream of new perceptions/understandings and experiences. . Without that challenge and difference of contrasts the brain solidifies into a much harder gray matter. Once that happens you're unable to map new connections and neurons within that hardmatter. Following that trend, once that happens, death itself creeps into the mind and is so visible to see for me, people must be blind not see it in the mirror. Hairs turn gray, thins out, skin starts to sag and age, eyes droop, shoulders slouch, and a dull haze coats the eyes losing that youthful lust that those that know to look for it, cannot see it anymore. Yes you aren't going to defeat death no matter how strong the mindset. Your body will eventually fail you, but god damn it, you can slow it down and control the rate of it with constant attention to your own mind. The body reflects the mind.
Admit your faults to yourself. Admit you might fail at a new adventure. The rate of which people adapt and learn something the first time is %40 (citation needed) slower then the second time they attempt it. An example. Learning handstands. The first day you attempt to learn to balance your own body upside down you will fail miserably. However after the mind gets used to the notion and adapts (which takes a day or so after your initial attempt) you will find your second attempt is much more controlled then your first. Repeat with discipline and concentration and you will eventually master it. And that's life. So I fail to see why people won't attempt something they want in life.. I can only rationalize it that people have been set in their routine for so long, they've lost that rewarding feeling of failing through a self appointed discipline. Nobody is so perfect they will never fail at anything. Though our mistakes and trails however we learn life and master the lil nuances that separate rookies from veterans, the experienced from the inexperienced. That's the challenge we offer ourselves that people ignore. You don't need others to challenge you, dependence on others is the weakness which allows one to wallow within a stagnant routine in the first place. You will never have to wait for yourself, or be disappointed in your own actions as long as you know you've tried your hardest (which unless you lie to yourself you'll know the truth). Have the strong mindset that failure is only temporary until your mind and body learn enough of the trait to become proficient at it.
Getting back to the earlier revelation of how people have "Fear of their ability to handle the unknown". Getting back to how and why it's important to test your mind and body constantly through life. This is important for various reasons but the main point of it is, the more you test yourself in life, the more you'll realize that you won't fail yourself creates a powerful mindset which takes over any weaker mindset and won't allow you to just sit idly by in life as it passes you by. Imagine a mindset so powerful that you have no fear of new challenges, faith in yourself through your past history to know that no matter what situation life throws at you, you'll have the confidence to know that you will handle it with a fair degree of competence.
