CD-Notes
Examples of what my goal is
1 Wake up - Living End - Lead Guitar, bass, drummer. Too heavy use of high hat (prefer minimal high hat, maybe wood block or something else). Lyrics (syllables) go to the beat, lull before the chorus. Good beat, clean sounding bass and instruments. Good balance (IMO) with vocals and instrumental.
2 Face Down - Red Jumpsuit Apparatus - Lead guitar, bass, drummer. Fast beat (too fast 4 me), simple words go exacting to the beat. Classic structure. Simple theme. Vocals too high for my taste.
3 Thrash Unreal - Against Me - Lead Guitar, Bass, Drummer. Super Clean bass line. Again the syllables go with the beat (not enough rhyming IMO) Great energy, he's cracking his voice and straining however (yelling?). Classic Structure, moderate use of high hat.
Other influences and taste: Muse (use of piano, and various strings), Peral Jam, Social Distortion, Linkin Park, Red Hot Chili Peppers (even tho they all do sound the same)
