Summary
Red and green lines show Penalty Areas that are also No Play Zones. They are normally marked by red stakes with green tops
You must take a penalty and drop within 2 club lengths of the point of entry, not nearer the hole
Solid Red and orange lines show Penalty Areas (that are NOT No Play Zones). The red line areas are also marked on the course by red stakes
You may play the ball as it lies or take a penalty and drop within 2 club lengths of the point of entry, not nearer the hole

"Back on a line" option from flag through the position of the ball is not practical for most of these areas
