NATHANIEL THOMAS
and his wife Betty, A Tasmanian aborigine, were early inabitants in this district. They arrived in 1827 and lived at Antechamber Bay. A daughter, Mary, born 1833, the first female child born to a settler in South Australia, married William Seymour of the S. A. Company. Another daughter, Hannah (Jenny) married Thomas Simpson. Nat Thomas died in 1879, Betty in 1878

Nathaniel Thomas arrived on Kangroo Island in 1827 from Tasmania with an Aboriginl wife and farmed this area. He later married Sophia Newcombe. He died in 1879 and Sophia in 1880. They were both buried nearby. Placed by Kangaroo Island Pioneers Assn. 1988.
