Areas where product packing takes place shall be maintained clean and sanitary. This includes ceilings, walls, tables, floors and RPCs. PMC Cooling contracts with Sanitation Specialists to perform an at least annual deep cleaning of the facility, including, dock areas, lights, floors, ceilings, cooling units and evaporates. PMC maintains the SSOPS and records of cleaning performed by Sanitation Specialists on file and available to JAS Family farms Organics.
All raw fruit and vegetables are checked in the field prior to harvest. At the packinghouse, the summer squash is visually inspected for damage, insect or rodent infestation, foreign materials, rot and decay, temperature abuse, tampering evidences, visible residues, etc. before re-packing. Any fruit or vegetables that fall to the ground must be discarded and not packaged.
