JAS Family Farms is committed to producing and marketing a safe product through implementation of good agricultural quality and handling practices food safety laws, adhering to industry food safety best practices and a process of continual improvement that focuses on food safety and promoting a food safety culture.
To do so, the General Manager in charge of day to day decision making will receive training on movement of pathogens in environment, fecal-oral cycle, basic GAP knowledge for the prevention of contamination, and basics of microbiology. Employees and Workers will be given training at least annually and prior to harvest on the basics of food safety and personal health and hygiene and other training appropriate to their job responsibilities. Such training will include topics of JAS Family Farm’s Food Safety policies, procedures and GAPs, including: sanitation, basics food handling, personal hygiene, injury and illness, and basic micro-organisms' life-cycles.
Any employees who do not comply with this organization’s food safety policies will be given a verbal warning and retrained. A second incident will result in a written warning and additional retraining. A third warning with the same non-compliance issue, will result in a 3-day suspension and potential termination.
As part of on-going adaptive management and improvement of the Food Safety Program, the JAS Family Farm’s Food Safety Plan will be annually reviewed and updated accordingly.
