Although there is no long-term product storage in the facility, the summer squash is stored on-site during re-pack, so the following policy and procedures apply.
All squash, product containers, and packaging entering the facility, in process during the re-pak and awaiting shipment, including but not limited to RPCs, pallets, and plastic bags must be stored in a manner that won't contribute to cross contamination.
Incoming product from the field is unloaded onto the dock bay. All product is on pallets and the bay is covered.
Incoming packaging materials are inspected prior to acceptance. If any signs of contamination are observed on the packaging materials are visible or noticed, they will be noted on the packaging slip or the bill of lading of the packaging shipment.
In-process product and packaging materials are maintained in a cold room and on pallets.
