It is JAS Family Farm's Food Safety policy that Management and employees will follow the procedures outlined below to prevent intentional adulteration of fresh produce including but not limited to, sabotage of the water delivery system or agricultural wells, physical damage food production and storage areas by biological, chemical, or radiological materials not typically found in food. These contamination agents are classified as bacteria, spores, toxins, chemical agents, radionuclide agents, or other unknown agents.
Where risks are present, food security controls shall be implemented to prevent intentional contamination. This should include signage at ranch entrance to prevent trespassing, securing water sources, pre-inspection of harvest equipment and locating plant protection materials is a secure and locked area away from product and packaging materials.
All visitors are required to adhere to food defense policies at field and packinghouse. Staff accompanying scheduled visitors shall provided them a basic food safety training and visitor rules and have them sign Visitor Sign In Sheet. If an unannounced inspector come to fields or packing house, follow procedures and paperwork outlined in 1.09 Internal Audits & Regulatory Inspections.
Suspicious activity is defined as entry of non-familiar people and/or vehicles, evidence of tampering with wells and irrigation sources, fertilizer and pesticide storage area, box storage areas at field and packinghouse of any unknown person lurking in fields and packinghouse.
Any employee that suspects or witnessed suspicious activity shall report the findings to the Farm Supervisor or Cooler Supervisor who ultimately reports then to the General Manager and Administrative Director and fills out the incident on Appendix F. Notice of Unusual Occurence/ Contamination Log.
