July 2008

Arts:

Romeo and Juliet under the stars at The Globe.

Documentaries:

Story of India, Michael Wood (BBC). Having been in south west India we connected very well with the images and sounds of the documentary.

Travels to the Edge with Art Wolfe. Very spectacular. However, the viewer is advised that there is some "indigenous nudity" in the chapter on Ethiopia. Is it that "indigenous nudity" is different from any other "human nudity?" oh, america, america!

Incident of the month:

-Islets of Langerhans stressed after a chocolate croissant. We cannot handle anymore the sugar-bombs that we get even from a good coffee house.

What caught our attention:

timewatch: the lost road. overland to Singapore. It describes a trip in the late 50's by an Oxbridge team of adventurous, arrogant and naive young men in two land rovers from London to Singapore.

Achievement of the month:

We built our new computer!

What did we learn:

To prepare our new tomato soup given to us on the phone by mom, we needed alfàbrega (catalan) or albahaca (spanish). But what's the english word when you are already in the supermarket? Thanks to google translate. The fishmonger's iphone with internet connection saved the day and the recipe!

alfàbrega (cat)-albahaca (esp)-basil (eng)-basilic (fr)- basilico (it)

Our picture of the month:
