Chitters

Description:

Chitters are a subterraneous, sentient species that resembles a scarab with an upraised, centaur like body. Located in the desert, these creatures follow a hive mind like hierarchy wherein shared mental resources can bolster the individuals abilities. They do not see visually, but sense their environment through vibration and scent. And do not communicate verbally.

While intelligent, they do not share human/centaur/brenthian views of morality. They would be considered amoral creatures by above ground society, driven by primal instincts towards ambition and sated hunger. They are capable of feeling fear and lack experience with above ground cultures.

An individual Chitter considers itself lord/general/lieutenant in control of their own armies of insect/scarab. They don't show any consideration for these lesser creatures they command, which have not demonstrated much in the way of sentient intelligence. Chitters control these insects telepathically and this control can be revoked.

Aside from mind magic, some Chitter species have demonstrated the ability to shoot bone fragments from their bodies.

Some Chitter have been known to atune to Thisius. A large host of Chitter are known to be atuned to Shul and allied with Westerners.

Possible Backgrounds:

• Serac Desert: A large population of Scarabaurs lives underground in the Serac Desert in a metropolis of sorts.
