Notable Features
Glad has manila skin, dark eyes, and a two inch scar that runs through his left eye and eyebrow.
He dresses flamboyantly, typically found adorned with a cape and copious rings. And he wears black warpaint streaked across his eyes.
He sports silver-white hair, which is not the effect of dye. He reasons that it's premature graying from some childhood trauma, but he doesn't know enough about his geneology to rule out that it's his natural hair color.
Background
Glad was orphaned as a babe before the fall of Cyelena when his parents died in a shipwreck off the then Northern coast. The boy's name and exact details were also lost soon after when Mercayan fell into Ruin. As an orphan refuge, he ended up in Koshalth where he was given many names he didn’t care for. The boy didn’t care for the walled city and the mandatory worship of the First. His experiences left a lifelong distaste for both the pillar and organized religion. At age 12, a band of mercenaries named the Gilded Banners scouted him in the city and took him on as one of their own. They had just completed an escort assignment and were on their way back to their base, the Gilded Cavern, which lay on the border between the Serac Desert and the Serac Badlands. The boy saw it as his best chance for circumventing Koshalth’s strict emigration laws and readily agreed.
When they arrived, the Gilded Banners took all the new recruits to Chracio and unceremoniously dumped the lot in the quicksand pit without warning. Of the twenty new recruits, the boy was one of five to survive the attunement process. He trained in various methods of combat—archery, horseback riding, and sword fighting—and his lust for combat earned him the name Glad of War. When he rose to the appropriate rank, he studied evocation under the commander of their company, Gorm the Mad.
By the age of 22, Glad had participated taken on simple escort and bounty missions for the company and participated in the razing of Helma the Hated’s stronghold. However, the Gilded Banners met their demise when they were hired to settle a border dispute between two moderately prosperous desert factions. The mission went awry when Poisoned Oak, a rival mercenary group, took the company unawares at the base, leading to the death of Gorm and many of Glad’s other comrades.
Glad sought vengeance with the survivors. A travelling party of Poisoned Oak were ambushed at night by the Gilded Banners where they all were slain. It’s said, the leader’s corpse was gilded with the money paid the Poisoned Oak for their services and piked at the entrance to the Gilded Cavern where he was left on display for a fortnight until a particularly bold bandit stole corpse for the gold.
After their revenge, the company dissolved and Glad wondered the continent as a lone sword-for-hire.
Personality
Glad had two pet ravens growing up named Dove and Crow, but he mostly considers animals fodder for hunting. He enjoys the simple pleasures in life: beer, sex, and food. Muffins are a particular favorite of his. He's irreverent, reckless, and a bit of a flirt. Glad can read as amoral, but really his personal code of ethics is just vastly different than the norm, allowing more wiggle room for unlawful activity. This might be a result of growing up in the Desert and his learned distaste for authority, governmental law, and organized religion in Koshalth.
Glad makes for a loyal comrade, bitter rival, and stickler for the semantics of an agreement. He has no qualms with casual violence and is quick to resort to the sword if warranted. Nor does he mind fighting dirty to survive. On the flip side, he is capable of restraining himself when diplomacy is called for.
Glad is also something of an amateur philosopher and occultist. Because he has no qualms studying magics that society would consider questionable, he is amassing information on a wide range of understudied magical abilities. His accumulated knowledge is compiled in a volume of work named Magical Oddities and Mysteries of the Occult.
As of late, Glad has become surprisingly spiritual. He never paid much attention to his pillar before, but his recent encounters with dragons and other mystical beings have caused him to view dragons as another source of power that can be further maximized through communion. Over the course of his campaign against LeShrac, he has become particularly devout and drawn on his pillar for fortitude and guidance. He can often be seen praying while he stages magical energy.

Feelings Towards Other Dragons and Pillared Individuals
Chracio: Extreme reverence
Dionastra: One of two targets for which Glad feels a narrow, religiously extreme antipathy. And extreme distrust
Shul: One of two targets for which Glad feels a narrow, religiously extreme antipathy.
Veckra: Respect
Vulsh: Disdain
Feelings Towards PCs
Arc: An interesting guy. Will make a good comrade.
Erin: Glad feels protective of their newest recruit.
Haaszander: Half the time Glad isn't sure what to make of her, but he recognizes her fighting skill and is impressed by her previous adventures and knowledge.
Krom: Glad's appreciates having a frequent drinking buddy, eager fighting partner, and occasionally more level headed presence to keep him from being to rash.
Phraxinus: Has never met a Silvestri before and is endlessly amused by the new recruit.
Ra'jira: Glad spends far too much time thinking Ra'jira is going to get himself killed. He's both mildly relieved and mostly surprised it hasn't happened yet.
Red: Ideologically disagrees with Red on most things, but appreciates his support skill in power and conviction.
Mouse: Glad's glad to have someone else from the desert around, let alone another human to talk to since he was the only human among the Foxes before Mouse's arrival.
Feelings Towards NPCs
Aidra: He hopes she survives. If she does, maybe he'll take her on as an apprentice.
Cadence: What little he's seen of her has intrigued him. He still doesn't trust her, but he's warming to her after she's helped save his life.
Elias: Glad is very curious to test his fighting skill against Elias.
Ephrath: In his own words: "Fuck that guy."
Gassy: Glad actually doesn't hate the creature, but he has the horrible feeling that he's going to have to kill it one day.
the Heretic: In another life, they would have been friends or allies. But fate and circumstance have put them on opposite sides of a continental conflict.
Gorby: He's a good guy.
Imbri: Begrudging respect for his overwhelming fighting skill. Glad plans on becoming strong enough for a legitimate rematch.
Kasim: Doesn't seem like a bad guy. Glad hopes he gets home safely.
Leshrac: Glad is itching to take this asshole down.
Nef: Glad has a lot of respect for the old man because despite his blindness, he still feels called to action.
Phrixus: Glad feels protective of Phrixus, but likes pushing Phrixus' buttons because of the centaur's unruffled demeanor.
Rimi: Mostly, he considers her his source of income, but Glad appreciates the ruthlessness Rimi displayed in their Vormyll tournament fights.
Ryla: He respects her skills. She's a better merc than he was anticipating.
Tilly: Glad used to view her as the weakest of the group, but respected her skill with potions and for invention, enough to sponger her as a candidate to replace Xisben.
Thrik: Glad thinks Thrik is mostly for show with his bone armor. If it weren't strategically unwise, he would have started a fight with him.
Tova: Though he is a Westerner and only occasionally pulled his weight in battle, Glad trusts Tova. In hindsight, he feels slightly bad about having impaled Tova with an arrow.
Tzoltan: Glad wants to learn some anti-suppression defense. It seems practical.
Yeeli: She'll needs some training in order to be prepared for the kind of battles we'll have, but she shows promise.
Feelings Towards Places
Brenthia: It's not bad. The carts are a bit queasy, but it's got brothels and bars and lots of impressive looking architecture. The best part o f Brenthia is the network of underground tunnels populated by huskers, goobers, and all manner of monsters to slay.
Demargo: Mostly an infuriating cesspool of corruption, it provides some means of entertainment. Namely women to bed and gangs to lay to waste.
Jhora Plains: Spooky in a foreboding but curiously irresistible way. Visiting the plains was Glad's first time viewing the Ruined Land.
Renamore: Not a terribly bad place, but dangerously corrupt. And why too intrinsically tied to the First.
Ruined Lands: Very fun.
Serac Desert: Home.
Serosan: This place is the worst. The worst. Essentially the desert without any of the fun stuff. No women. No booze. The only thing going for it is the exotic meat and it's far too much trouble to get that. And the whole "crimeless" claim isn't all it's cracked up to be.
Veckra: So long as he's prepared for the cold, Veckra is Glad's kind of place with drinking and hunting and dangerous wilds.
Vormyll: The people are stuck up. The tournament is fun. The "entertainment" and booze is great. And they have rock women which sounds like a challenge if ever Glad heard one.
