Section I.C: Dream Wraiths
Myths of these creatures has long persisted, but there has been little proof of their existence aside from occasional stories of the odd person who falls asleep never to return the waking world. In reality, these creatures exist and can be found in a few, hard to reach places. Their appearance is almost human, but gray, colorless, and pale. And there is something inhuman about the eyes and the general amorphous vagueness of their form. Though ghost like in appearance and able to apparate and disapparate, they can become corporeal and interact with the waking world in usual ways. They can also interact with it in unusual ways by pulling out the dream essence of inanimate objects, such as spooning up a handful of bridge whose dream essence can be drank.
Dream Wraiths consider the waking world for other creatures their own state of dreaming and have a considerable curiosity about the going ons of our world. Likewise, their waking world is what we would consider our dreaming. Like a dream, it follows a malleable, metaphoric logic. But unlike a dream, this is a realm of directed motivations and thoughts shared between an interconnected web of dreamers rather than something had alone. As such, it is a place of spiritual insight. Dreamers can congregate. The dreamer can summon himself elsewhere or someone others to him, not limited to the regular dreamers. The inanimate in the waking world may become sentient in the dreaming. The dead, too, can be summoned or visited. The dreamer may also use their imagination to affect their surroundings or their own condition, e.g. imagining wings or a table or wine to drink.
But do not mistake the Dreaming for a whimsical place of possibilities. It is also feared with clear dangers. The dream itself and environment can become hostile with effects that linger upon waking, including injury and fatigue. The dream could be inhabited by hostile actors, possibly even unfriendly Wraiths. And the dreamer may hurt themselves upon waking if woken in the middle of an action. There is also the implication through experience and observation that one could die in the dream and thus in life.
The Dreaming can be reached one of two ways by non-Dream Wraiths. It can be reached naturally by dreaming in the presence of a Dream Wraith and becoming part of their dream network. Or it can be induced by drinking an alcoholic spirit derived from Dream Wraith blood. In the latter case, the dreamer's duration in the dream is affected by the potency of the dose and the time spent dreaming may seem far longer than the time spent actually asleep because time and space are malleable in the Dreaming. The latter method will also make the drinkers body incorporeal while they are asleep. They will remain ghostlike where they have fallen and can be passed through as though they are air.
If reached naturally, falling asleep in the dreaming wakes the dreamer.
As a quasith construct, the dreaming is also affected by the presence of Nulls around whom the dreaming drifts into a void. It is unknown what happens if a dreamer enters one of these Null-void spaces.
