As the first image shows, this site is across Evergreen Avenue from a large tract used for farming. An aerial showing the whole peninsula between Harts Cove and Heils Creek shows the site's current contribution to open space in the area.
The owner submitted an application and a Full Environmental Assessment on February 17, 2010 requesting a subdivision into 7 lots; one includes the existing house. A driveway approximately 480 feet log would provide access from Woodlawn Avenue to 2 lots. Frontage variances would be required for the 2 flag lots. The full survey and plan filed may be viewed.
The Suffolk County Planning Commission has reviewed the plan and by a March 26, 2010 letter, submitted comments pertaining to the driveway and affordable/workforce housing requirements.
