Discussion

This is a large project proposed for downtown Eastport. It is to be on the west side of Eastport Manor Road over to Seatuck Avenue and continuing on the other side of Seatuck. It fills the entire area from the Montauk Highway to the Old Montauk Highway, except for some of the existing buildings.

The conceptual plan filed with Brookhaven's Planning Division is the last document below and shows what is being proposed.

A public hearing is scheduled before the Town Board for December 8 on a Draft Environmental Impact Statement to have been prepared by the developer. However, by letter dated 11/11/09 (below), the developer requested an adjournment because, after meeting "with a number of local constituents, where we were advised of local concerns", and the plans would be changed "to address the many of the issues raised."

The revised application is discussed here.

Before the adjournment was requested, A draft EIS and a Traffic Impact Study had been filed (see below). They contain a large amount of facts helpful in analyzing the impacts of this project, as well as the developer's conclusions.

Also below are most of the articles that have appeared in the Press of Manorville & the Moriches on this project.
