The behavior difference is obviously intimidation by the ferociousness of the guard's behavior. Emboldened, you drive forward, stabbing, pushing, almost chasing the lizards back to the tunnel where they came from. The men holler and yell, stomping on the few they are able to catch as they continue the drive.
You take up the chase, and within a minute, the lizards are in full retreat, with you group racing forward. Something feels a bit off, but you hold your course with the men.
A motion out of the corner of your eye causes you to look up, and stop dead in your tracks. The lizards have taken to the roofs, and are now above you, watching from all sides. Your group chased a retreating party straight into an ambush!
You cry out and the other men look up. Seeing that they've been spotted, the lizards descend, dozens of them, from all sides. You manage to kill several as they fall on top of you, but there are too many and began to bite into your legs and arms.
You wonder about their intelligence, and if they had actually planned to feint, or if your group had been too bold, but you don't have to dwell on it for very long.
The End.
