You don't hesitate. You dart into the cave toward the sound of the screaming. For a moment, you are taken in by the darkness and curse for not bothering to grab your headlamp, but just as quickly discover luminescent moss making it possible to find your way and avoid any trip hazards. Maintaining your pace, you quickly find yourself several hundred yards into the cave. The entrance is now just a tiny dot of light, and rounding a corner it also disappears. At the corner, you find the source of the screaming. It's a small girl, very pale. At first, you think she must have gotten lost from the village, but there were not reports of missing children that you knew of. What's more the paleness of her skin suggested that she'd been in the cave for a very long time. Possibly her entire life.
She spots you as you round the corner, and quickly becomes silent. Her eyes are jet black, but you can see confusion and fear in her expression. The reason she was screaming is also readily apparent. A piece of stone had broken from the ceiling and hit her ankle. It was sprained, possibly broken. As you kneel to examine it closely, she tenses up and starts yelling loudly in a language that you don't recognize. It's obvious she's in pain, but she also does not trust you.
