With some trepidation, you agree to help with the fight. The men all grunt happily and one of them hands you a spear. Holding it, you realize that it's made from the same moss that is used for the ropes, tightly knotted, and then soaked in the calcium rich water to make it straight and stiff. The blade is a sharpened piece of stone as well.
The men grab your shoulder and push you along. Within a few minutes, you've crossed the city and find yourself surrounded by other men with weapons. There is general unease, and you're guessing they're expecting an attack soon.
And they're right! To your surprise, an explosion blows a stone gate open, and lizards begin to pour through. Cries of anguish and anger mix as the men strike back with their spears against the hoard. You, yourself, manage to kill many of them, but the fighting is terrible, and you feel like your group is getting overwhelmed.
