As politely as you can, you try to explain in broken Spanish that you wish to simply leave. The translator is disappointed, and tries to make a case, but his language keeps slipping into the native tongue that you don't understand. You can see guards occasionally nodding during the finer points, but it is all lost on you.
Before you have a chance to plea your case, you hear cries going up all over the city. Immediately the guards are on alert and rush to the gate, closing and latching it. The translator gestures to you to follow him. Whether you wanted to or not, you aren't leaving right away it seems.
A loud rumble shakes the entire chamber as a loud blast can be heard from the far side of the city. The yelling gets more fierce now. The old man and several of the guards make their way to the center of the city, where you find the girl with her ankle treated at some kind of infirmary. The girl is busy giving orders to different guards and you realize no one is paying attention to you. The gate you left had a single guard, and you might be able to sneak back and out if he is distracted. On the other hand, they could really use help it seems.
