You and the girl march for some time into deeper and deeper tunnels, surrounded by lizards. When side passages appear, several of the lizards run over and stand in the path, blocking it so that the two of you cannot make a break for it.
It's colder here, and there is less of the lumiscent moss, making it harder for you to see. You keep stumbling on ridges in the path, or weaving to the side, bumping into lizards that snap at you. Finally the girl takes your hand to help lead you through the tunnels, as she can see much better than you.
Eventually the lizards herd you both into a narrow, but tall stone cell. A rock is rolled into place to trap you both in there. Just beyond you can hear the soft hissing of several lizards, sentries in case you try to escape.
While thinking of your next move, the girl tugs on your sleeve and points up. Higher up in the ceiling is a crack. It's small enough that she might be able to fit through, but you certainly cannot. Also, while she is able to walk, she can't reach it without your help.
