You point up at the sky, and the girl nods curtly. She tries not to show it, but you can tell she is disappointed. But, as much as you feel for this people's plight, you don't want to die down here. The girl screws up her face, looks away, and begins to march. She does not look back, and instead begins giving orders to the men near the gates.
You aren't sure what it is that she's saying, but you guess it's some kind of motivational speech.
The knots in the rope make it an easy enough climb, if a little frightening. There is nothing to support you beyond the rope, and it's easily a hundred feet to the chamber ceiling. When you reach the half way point, you hear the terrifying rumble of another explosion blasting open a gate. Cries begin and the fight is taken up once more.
You hesitate, but remember that as one person you won't add much to the fight, and it doesn't appear to be the winning side. Besides, by the time you get down again, the fight may have already been settled.
You continue your ascent.
By the time you real the hole and emerge from the cavern, what is below is very dark, and very quiet. With a heavy heart, but a sense of relief, you begin the trek back to the village.
