Light is a radiant energy, our mood can be affected by the intensity and depth of light we receive; it is proven that well-being and productivity are related to the quality of light.
As a designer how we can we use light to change the ambience of a room?
Context::
Artificial light is important in creating suitable environments for us to work, relax and play, in places and at times that suit us best.
From working at a desk to reading a book, from watching a movie to simply sitting and talking, we use lights all around us so we can see clearly and do things safely, comfortably and to set the ambience.
How do you light a candy store?
How do you light a funeral parlour?
How does the lighting affect our impression of the space?
What makes the lighting in a space enjoyable?
Or perhaps not enjoyable?
Why do you choose to spend time in a particular space?
Or perhaps not to spend time there?
Note: The light will be 12v dc and energy efficient bulbs or light emitting diodes will be used.
You will follow the design process. There are 4 stages that you need to complete and there are links to each stage at the top of this page. You will create a design folio to accompany your completed light that will be submitted for assessment. This folio will be clearly divided into the sections of the design process.
