The BOM is a precise list of exactly what you think you will need. It will include a list of a cutting list for your required materials and hardware.
You can think of this as a shopping list. Therefore you need to consider the cost of each item. Your project MUST come in under budget.
You have approximately a $20 budget for this project
Eg:
Components Needed: Cost:
1 x quartz clock movement $2.50
Materials Needed:
MDF: 2 sheets at 1200 x 600 x 9
Timber screws: approx 20
Clear gloss polyurethane
Cutting lists for materials should include the type of material, size in millimetres (length x width x thickness) and quantity.
Consider fixings, hardware and finishes.
Use Bunnings or consult your teacher for the cost of materials.
You need to create a production plan that outlines the major steps you should undertake in order to complete this design task.
Please make your own version of the table below and outline the steps need to make your clock.
A good production plan is one that could be followed by others.
Below is an excellent example
Make your project!!
You need to follow your production plan! Do gain feedback from teachers and peers to double check that your planning is feasible, but once you certain, you should be good to go.
Please copy and update the following table as a process journal. Take photos and make short comments as you work through the making of your project.
The steps come from your Production Plan above.
I will be observing you throughout the construction of your clock. Are your able to problem solve?
