PIR Motion Sensor

Testing was with Radio Shack version, about $10

Notes: Wants to run from 5.0Vcc.

Output range is 0-3.3V (suitable for Raspberry Pi input)

Important note:

Output signal is VERY weak!! Should only be used to drive uController input pin, or at most 2N7000 FET devices. Output will be pulled down too far and cause device to behave erratically if used to drive LED or other higher power transistors. (Most power FETs want a 4V gate voltage, so will only partially turn on with the lower output voltage of the PIR unit.)

IMPORTANT NOTE: Connections are NOT in the same order as the Radio Shack version. There is NOT labeling anywhere on the board.

Above is the board layout from the web documentation.

Output seems to have a little more strength than the Radio Shack version.

INPUT is 5V to 20V. Output is 3.3v/gnd.
