Things that need to be fixed / changed / modified:

DONE:

  1. Installed forward cleats on port and starboard sides to supplement single bow cleat.

    1. Replaced refrigerator.

    2. Replaced broken steering wheel.

    3. Replaced ignition switch was hopeful this would fix the problem with the engine alarm sounding when the engine was off (and no key in ignition). It didn't solve the problem. :(

  2. Replaced forward hatch.

    1. AC - Purchased self contained unit, initially in vee-berth, vented out forward hatch.

    2. Stored folding chairs and original anchor in transom storage locker. Stored extra anchors (with spare prop) in starboard bin under v-berth cushions.

    3. Replaced throttle box (Ed did most of this - much appreciation for his help). This job was a royal pain! Had to remove side panel. Throttle assembly back and front halves bolt to side panel for assembly - must be able to remove panel for access.

    4. Replaced all interior lights with LED lights - one in cabin and one in head are red/off/white.

    5. Replaced radio with updated model that supports sd cards and usb drives.

    6. Replaced battery charger with 2 separate trickle chargers.

    7. Replaced bow light with LED light. Replaced stern light pole with LED pole.

    8. Tested and pumped out head - seems to be working.

    9. Replaced alternator.

    10. Tested battery isolator.

TO DO:

    1. Replace or add additional swim ladder?

    2. Add 12V outlets w/USB chargers.

    3. Check Depth finder.

    4. Replace gas struts on engine hatch.

    5. Glue headliner in main cabin.

    6. Flags??

    7. Add cabinet for storage on ledge over after berth.

    8. Add heat lamp in engine compartment.

    9. Cap for chain locker.

    10. Back up bilge pump, with hour meter.

    11. Hour meter for engine, digital voltmeter for batteries.

    12. Test hot water heater

    13. Purchased digital combo lock box, need to find a place to install it.

    14. Need to get polyprop. line for swimming, temp dock lines.

Battery Charging:

In the August / Sept. 2015 timeframe, I noticed that the batteries were not being charged by the alternator when the boat was running.

Over the weekend of Sept. 20, I worked replaced the alternator. Before replacing the alternator, the battery isolator was tested - checking voltages on input and output. The isolator was also completely removed from the circuit and tested with the "diode test" function on the voltmeter - it seemed to test fine.

The alternator was replaced with an exact replacement, 50A. However, Batt #1 doesn't seem to charge at all. And the voltage on Batt #2 is at most around 13.4V, and that value drops by at least a volt if the blower is turned on. The blower is a heavy load, but shouldn't take down the combined batt & alternator by that much!

Next effort will be to remove the battery isolator, clean up the battery switch connections, and reduce wiring so that all loading goes through the battery switch.
