Sweet Pea

The adventure continues... as the fleet expands!

Sweet Pea is a 1983 Catalina 22.

NOTE: "Sweet Pea" was NOT a name *I* would pick for a boat!! Oh well.... (The previous owner is a wonderful, sweet person, so I guess at least that part was fitting. It's just not a "man's" boat name... <grin>)

The hull is sound, and she's in basically pretty good shape - but as with most boats of her age, "needs a lot of TLC". The above progression of pictures shows her as she was in storage in a rack on the previous owner's land. Then launched and in her slip at Emerald Point Marina. And finally, with new bimini and rigged for sailing (including a Torqeedo 2.0 electric outboard).

Here's the immediate list of things that need attention, or would be on the longer list of things to be done:

1) Replace starboard bulkhead (just like on Night Breeze).

Done.

2) Re-wire mast lights.

Wiring ok. Replaced mast head and steaming lights with LED lights.

3) Replace hatch boards and rails.

Made PVC plastic boards and rails. (see projects)

4) Install electric outboard / batteries.

Done.

5) Replace solar vent on bow.

Replaced with solid piece.

6) Install topping lift / spare halyard.

Done - then lost topping lift up the mast during untangling of rigging... argh!!!

7) Tiller cover.

Done.

8) Recover interior cushions, and make cover for cabin top to protect woodwork and avoid leaks.

Done.

9) Install radio.

Done.

10) Replace faded / cracking interior cabin lights with new LED lights.

Done.

11) Refinish interior woodwork.

Done.

Longer list of things to do:

* Replace rails for sliding cabin roof hatch.

* Replace grab rails on cabin top.

* Replace trim around cabin door.

Wish list items:

* Furler

* Bimini (Done.)

* Autohelm

* Propane grill???

* Radio

Electric Power for a C22: C22_ElectricPower

Shot with bimini added, and Genoa 150 raised in slip:

Simiar shot with "Drifter". This sail goes back as far as the 150, but is shorter, and lighter material (though not as light as spinnaker cloth).
