Boats, Wine, and General Mischief
Thank you for visiting.
Who is Dan Roberts?
From 2006 until about 2008, I participated in a "sport" called Cowboy Action Shooting.
Part of the "game" is that you have to create a cowboy persona from the late 1800's. Your persona can be based on a real historical figure, or it can be completely made up, or anywhere in between. For my character, I used the good name of Daniel Webster Roberts - Captain of Company D of the Texas Rangers.
As a result of my fun in Cowboy Action Shooting, "Dan Roberts" has become my alias of choice.
Wine Making
Wine Making is another fun hobby...
Of course, you'll find the "Dan Roberts" name on all my wine bottles!
Jerky Making
Below is a page of notes to start experimenting:
I've made a couple of attempts with fair success. It turned out ok, but nothing that I'm going crazy over or continuing on a regular basis.
Boat Life

It's a long list, so get something good to drink. I'll try to keep this up to date with latest, working backwards through time...

Sailing
(2012) I've gotten back into sailing. I recently purchased a 1981 Catalina 30 TR, "Night Breeze"

Destined to be my last project boat? - a 1995 Bayliner Ciera 2355.
So far, haven't come up with a name for her yet. But "The Lakehouse" seems fitting, given that it was pretty much like buying a 2nd house, and is close enough as far as the IRS is concerned.
The current best option for a name for the boat is "Summer Breeze" (queue the song from Seals and Crofts).
I'd like to find a graphic of the classic coconut tree on a desert island, with wind blowing it, and put the name of the boat on that... The full design could then be placed on the clear glass transom door.
Fun with drones, and comments on the DJI Spark.
As a next adventure, I'd really like to schedule a cruise through TrawlerSchoolCharters.com. Sounds like a FANTASTIC way to really learn about trawlers, and see what it is like living aboard, if only for 2-3 days.
