Escapee Model

As with Mischief, the physical process of building the boat is starting with the construction of a model.

Since this boat is being designed from scratch, it's even more important to convince myself that the hull will hopefully look ok when completed. A model isn't perfect, but will give a better sense than just the piece of paper.

First, the frames were set up on a base block:

The construction of the hull for Escapee will be different from that of Mischief. For this hull, the stringers will only be TEMPORARILY attached to the frame templates. The side and bottom panels will be epoxied and screwed to the stringers, covered and finished. Once the boat is finished, all the frame templates will be removed - leaving a clean, bare hull with just the plywood panels and stringers. At THAT point, additional cross section frames and floor supports will be added.

For construction of the model, the stringers are glued to the frame templates. But the templates will be cut away once the hull is complete.
