Rhenium minerals

  • Class: Non-Ferrous MetalsGroup: Rare MetalsSubgroup: Rare Refractory Metals & Rare Trace MetalsMetal: Rhenium (Re)Renium is contained in dozens of minerals.Rhenium accompanies minerals of molybdenum, tungsten, lead, platinum, tantalum, niobium, etc.Rhenium may be contained:Сopper sandstones, copper-molybdenum and polymetallic ores, pyrites

  • Uranium ore

  • Rare-earth ores

  • Platinum ores

  • Brown coal

  • Volcanic emissions

  • Manganese ores

  • Oil shale

There are large deposits of molybdenite in the USA, China, Norway, Germany, Mexico, Republic of Korea, Bolivia, Peru, Chile, Armenia, Kazakhstan, Poland, Russia, Uzbekistan, and other countries.

CLASSIFICATION OF MINERALS CONTAINING RHENIUM

NATIVE ELEMENTS and ALLOYS: Rhenium

SULFIDES and SULFOSALTS: Rheniite, Tarkianite, Dzhezkazganite, Molybdenite, Pyrite

OXIDES: Columbite, Pyrolusite, Tantalite, Kipushite

SILICATES: Zircon, Alvite, Gadolinite

SELECTION OF METHODS FOR SEPARATING OF RHENIUM MINERALS

During the processing of minerals containing rhenium, plants use the following types of separation:

Rhenium is mainly obtained as a by-product of the extraction and refinement of molybdenum and copper ores.

The main source of rhenium is molybdenum concentrates (rhenium content 0.01-0.04%; 2-20 to 200-300 g /t).

Currently, the industrial source of rhenium is also the waste water of hydrometallurgical processing of poor molybdenite concentrates. Industrial waters contain between 10 and 50% rhenium.?
