The lesson plans are a step-by-step guide for both myself, students, parents and the Bohannon community. I use the lesson to develop a deeper understanding of the math concepts and skills in both myself and my students. The lessons are broken up into three parts:.
- Learning Objectives. Students should always know what they are studying and why
 - Teaching and learning activities are explained in multiple ways to help students understand math concepts and to develop math skills Content is localized and modified where possible to build engagement
 - Assessment is built into each lesson both before class starts and after

Lesson plans almost always follow an I Do, We Do, You Do and Wrapup structure but the overall philosophy follows the Hunter model. The Hunter Model is the following seven-step model developed by Madelyn Hunter:
- Objective/Purpose. “The learner will do what + with what + how well."
 - Anticipatory Set. Method to build student engagement.
 - Direct Instruction. I will demonstrate what is being learned.
 - Check For Understanding. Make certain students understand what is being taught otherwise stop and review.
 - Guided Practice. Teams and I guide students that are struggling.
 - Independent Practice Students work on their own.
 - Closure Conclude the lesson
